What is the Rule of Three?

The Rule of Three is a very powerful method for extracting values from simple information.

For example, if you know 2 workers dig 10 holes per day, how many holes can 13 workers dig in that same period?

To calculate that, all you need to do is arrange the data using the Rule of Three:

So we multiply it like a cross.

$$2 * x = 13 * 10$$ $$x = {130 \over 2}$$ $$x = {65}$$

The Rule of Three tells us that if 2 workers dig 10 holes, 13 workers would dig 65 holes in the same period of time.
